We’ve held more than 1,000 classes of varying sized teams in all aspects of protective services.

Our Services

Training We Provide

Piatt Tactical Training offers

Piatt Tactical Training LLC offers comprehensive security detail training for corporate security teams worldwide. Although we are licensed by the state to teach the basic requirements for state certification (license #F-09396201) our training courses go beyond the minimum state licensing requirements for armed uniform and armed plainclothes protective details. Because we train internationally, we do not offer the basic certification classes which are only valid in Texas. Our training begins where the state requirements end so teams should meet licensing requirements from the state or country, they work in.

FIREARMS

We offer firearms training for handguns, shotguns, and tactical rifles. depending on the training requested team members may fire up to 1,000 rounds per two-day class per student. Our training does not involve “X” or bullseye shooting but concentrates on real-world application of basic and advanced firearms training as close to force-on-force training as our insurance will permit.

Basic Self Defense

Basic and advanced self-defense and martial arts training by legitimate martial arts black belt instructor. This training has evolved from real world experience and actually works. In most cases our self-defense training focuses on neutralizing the threat and moving the protectee.  We do not concentrate on extended engagements

TACTICAL TRAINING

Training including formations, advances, routing planning, advances, arrivals and departures, escape driving*, and tactical firearms training.

*Escape driving is usually cost prohibitive as it involves car-to-car contact.

Protective Detail Training

Piatt Tactical Training LLC offers comprehensive protective detail training spanning the entire skill set and can focus on the clients’ specific needs.

Advanced Tactical & Escape Driving Training

Stay alert, stay prepared: Security Detail Training including formations, advances, routing planning, escape driving, and tactical firearms training for corporate and security teams. Better training leads to better and more appropriate responses to threats.

Overview Of Use Of Force Law

The use of force laws is consistent throughout most American states and allow force including deadly force when the actor reasonably believes their life or the life of a third party is at risk. We will discuss the likely situations that may result in the use of force.

More About The training

Client Needs

Depending on the needs of the client we can present full days on the range or a combination of protective service classes and firearms training. Classroom and practical exercises include but are not limited to protective details, formations, advances, route planning, arrivals and departures and escape and evasive driving techniques.

Advanced Tactical

We do offer an advanced tactical and escape driving course which involves moving through barricades, reverse 180 degree turns to back out of a hot zone and defensive tactics to disable or interrupt a pursuer. (These courses are generally prohibitively expensive as they involve actual contact between vehicles). Please contact me if you would like additional information.

Class Sizes

Class sizes are usually limited to 10 detail members to ensure each participant has the opportunity to master the different skills presented. This is more critical during firearms training where participants practice advanced cover and move techniques, principal extractions from hot zone, and moving principals between vehicles under fire. This is not standard “X” ring shooting, it’s practical application of advanced shooting skills and is as close to “force on force” training as the insurance companies will permit. On average our shooters will fire 800 to 1000 rounds per person in a two-day class. Police officers are only required to fire 50 rounds per year.

how it works

The Process

Initial Evaluation

We will discuss the size of your team(s), the level of threat they may face, the amount of travel involved, and how much prior training and the background of the security staff.

My recommendations

Based on those responses I can offer my input and we can come to an agreement on the type and frequency of the training.

Training Scheduled

We will set the times and dates to meet with your team for the recommended training.

Annual Training

Annual training on use of force at all levels is recommended in the event the team becomes involved in a major incident that results in legal action.
